During my recent trip to Tokaj with friends, we chose Toldi Fogado as our base for exploring the local wine scene. Nestled in the heart of the town, its location makes it a convenient spot for several nearby wine cellars. While we anticipated culinary delights, our dining experience was quite varied. We opted for half-board service, allowing us to sample Hungarian dishes at the inn. The ambiance was peaceful, a blend of rustic charm with a modern touch. I found breakfast offerings somewhat insufficient; it felt repetitive-a missed opportunity given Hungary's rich culinary diversity. In contrast, the dinner menu provided a broader selection, allowing us to indulge in local flavors, and the wine list was extensive, making tasting enjoyable at any hour. Locals and tourists alike are welcome, further enhancing the atmosphere. While some aspects of our stay, like the food and wellness facilities, could be improved, Toldi Fogado serves as a decent resting point for wine enthusiasts. The surrounding vineyards and cultural experiences certainly make it worthwhile.
